Therapeutic Dentistry

**Therapeutic Dentistry**

The goal of therapeutic dentistry is the timely diagnosis and treatment of damage to various dental tissues. Dental damage can be caused by caries, non-carious processes, or trauma. Tooth restoration, also known as restoration, is done using various types of fillings.

**Consultation:**

This includes an examination of the oral cavity with a special camera, allowing us to show the patient in real-time and explain all the processes occurring in their mouth.

**Professional Oral Cleaning**

Complete professional oral cleaning consists of four stages:

1. **Scaling** - Removal of subgingival and supragingival calculus and plaque with a special ultrasonic device.

2. **Air-jet method** - Removal of plaque from the tooth surface using a water jet and whitening powder. This method whitens teeth by at least half a tone.

3. **Polishing with abrasive paste** - A stage where the dentist places special paste on the tooth surfaces and polishes the teeth using a brush.

4. **Application of 5% sodium fluoride varnish** - The final stage, completed by the patient themselves. The gel-varnish ensures the teeth's resistance to carious damage.

**Caries**

Caries is a process where the hard tissues of the tooth undergo demineralization and softening, resulting in the formation of a carious cavity.

There are several stages of caries based on depth:

- Stage of spots
- Superficial caries
- Medium caries
- Deep caries

Caries treatment involves cleaning the carious cavity and filling it with the necessary filling material. The treatment restores the integrity of the tooth tissue and prevents further progression of caries.

**Pulpitis (Nerve Inflammation)**

Pulpitis is the inflammation of the soft tissues (nerve) of the tooth and is a complication of caries. Pathogenic microbes reach the soft tissues after "digesting" the hard tissues of the tooth, leading to inflammation and sleepless nights.

Pulpitis treatment requires anesthesia. Treatment begins with the removal of damaged tissues and creating direct access to the canals. Then, they are mechanically and medicinally treated, after which the tooth is dried and filled.

**Periodontitis**

Periodontitis is the inflammation of periodontal tissues. The inflammatory process spreads not only to the tooth but also to the surrounding bone tissues of the root. Pathological changes distinguish the fibrous form, granuloma, and cyst of periodontitis. Infectious periodontitis is mainly a complication of caries.

The presence of numerous periodontitis-affected teeth can also cause damage to internal organs, including the heart and joints. To treat an inflamed tooth, the tooth is opened, the canals are mechanically, antiseptically, and ultrasonically treated. Depending on the general condition and the stage of inflammation, the treatment may be carried out in one or several stages.
